Managing Acne-Prone Skin

5 July 2026

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions we see, and one of the most misunderstood. It is driven by oil production, blocked pores, bacteria and inflammation — not by poor hygiene.

Daily Habits That Help

Cleanse twice daily with a gentle cleanser — over-washing makes acne worse. Use non-comedogenic moisturisers and SPF, change pillowcases regularly, and resist squeezing spots, which drives inflammation deeper and causes scarring and dark marks.

Ingredients With Evidence Behind Them

Salicylic acid helps unblock pores, benzoyl peroxide targets acne bacteria, and retinoids regulate skin cell turnover. Introduce one active at a time and give it at least eight weeks to work.

When to See a Doctor

If acne is painful, scarring or not responding to over-the-counter care, medical treatment can make a real difference. As a doctor-led clinic, we can assess your skin properly and prescribe treatments that go beyond what is available on the high street.
